Tom Cruises time as the big screens Jack Reacher may be long over but he can still have a fun cameo on Amazons Reacher alongside Alan Ritchson.
Christopher McQuarrie Jack Reacher movie series may be far behind Tom Cruise but the actor can still have a perfect cameo in Prime Videos Reacher TV show. Despite having clever dialogue and edge of the seat action scenes Tom Cruises Jack Reacher movies failed to leave their mark because they drifted too far from Lee Childs Jack Reacher novels. Amazons Reacher on the other hand is already being touted as a superior adaptation as it stays loyal to Childs narrative elements by aptly featuring a hulking Alan Ritchson as the titular character. And yet despite this discrepancy between the projects there is still room for the perfect Tom Cruise Reacher TV show cameo.
Tom Cruise who still maintains his strong grasp on the box office brought his own brand of poise and magnetic elegance to Jack Reacher in the movies. While this was enough to deliver the thrills that one expects from a high octane crime drama Tom Cruise just did not fit the description of the 6 feet 5 inch behemoth of a man that Jack Reacher is in Childs stories. This was among the primary reasons why Tom Cruises iteration of Jack Reacher seemed less of an adaptation and more of an entertaining run of the mill action thriller.
Compared to Amazons Reacher, Tom Cruises Jack Reacher may not have fared that well among Lee Childs readers but the actor can still have a fun cameo in the TV show. Appearing as Jack Reacher in the series would clearly not make sense for Tom Cruise as Alan Ritchson already plays the role and not all TV shows and movies leave room for cinematic multiverse crossovers. However Tom Cruise would be a great fit for playing Reachers commanding officer from the military General Leon Garber who makes several brief appearances in the source material. By appearing as General Garber Cruise can not only reinstate his place in the Jack Reacher franchise but also give a subtle nod to his own unique portrayal of the iconic titular drifter.
