Tom Cruise Chose To Be With Ex-wife Nicole Kidman in $162M Erotic Film, Refused Crime Drama That Went to Johnny Depp Instead

Tom Cruise is undoubtedly one of the best actors of our generation, excelling in almost every aspect Cruise has made an empire by himself. Being the current highest-paid actor, the Top Gun actor has done everything in his career, from performing his own stunts to flying planes to gaining years of experience in the industry. Cruise, 60 has been in the acting business for decades now and his charm and energy is high as ever.

Tom Cruise has had his ups and down during his time in Hollywood and made some wrong movie choices, one of them was the movie he did with his then-wife Nicole Kidman Eyes Wide Shut by rejecting to star in another movie, Donnie Brasco. Well, guess what, both of them were complete box office failures.

Tom Cruise was initially drafted for the crime/drama movie Donnie Brasco but he backed out from the movie only because the movie schedules were overlapping with his timings for his other movie. Later on, replacing Cruise enters Johnny Depp, who did a phenomenal job in the movie as it was one of his best movies during that time frame and was even appreciated for his part. Tom Cruise dropped this movie for starring in the drama/mystery movie Eyes Wide Shut with his then-wife Nicole Kidman with whom he has been married for over a decade.

Donnie Brasco was released in the year 1997 starring Al Pacino and Johnny Depp as its lead, though the movie had such high-class actors and good critic ratings, the movie flopped at the box office with a box office collection of just $124 million with a budget of $35 million. While it might seem that Tom Cruise dodged a bullet removing himself from this box office failure, his movie Eyes Wide Shut also turned out to be a box office failure. With it running for only $162 million over a budget of $65 million.

Tom Cruise will be coming back with one of the most fan-favorites roles out there, reprising his role as Ethan Hunt in Mission: Impossible franchise. The franchise will have its seventh installation, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One this year and the eighth, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two in 2024. Though the script for the movie is kept under tight wraps, avoiding any major plot reveals, it is confirmed that the movie is already in its post-production stage.
