Chicago PD has a lot going on. There’s the ongoing situation with Upton (Tracy Spiridakos) and her crumbling marriage to Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer), the changes that Burgess (Marina Squerciati) is making to deal with her PTSD, and a cliffhanger ending involving a tense case.
The momentum is at a fever pitch, and plus, there’s the added appeal of season 10, episode 16, being the first one ever directed by Soffer. He’s been teasing the transition behind the camera since he left the show, and all reports suggest that he absolutely delivered.
Is Chicago PD new next week? (March 15)
Unfortunately, fans will have to wait to find out. Chicago PD will not be airing a new episode on Wednesday, March 8. In fact, the police procedural will be gone the week after, as well. It won’t resume its normal time slot until Wednesday, March 22.
It’s a tough scheduling change, given that PD and the other One Chicago shows already went on hiatus at the top of the year. There doesn’t seem to be an urgent reason for this delay, as there may have been with Chicago Fire and the recent departure of star Taylor Kinney, but given that One Chicago moves as a single unit, it makes sense why PD is also sitting out a few weeks.Sometimes the hiatus can be beneficial to the cast and crew, as well. It can be difficult to keep up with the demanding shooting schedule of network TV– especially when it includes the set pieces and shootouts that Chicago PD is famous for.
