American actor and producer Matthew McConaughey admitted that he experienced the first sexual abuse at the age of fifteen. At the age of eighteen, a man drugged him and also abused him. However, despite the memories, he has moved on and refuses to let his life be negatively affected.McConaughey began his acting career in 1991 while studying at the university. He started out in commercials and made his first film role in Dazed and Confused. The breakthrough came in 1996, when he played the role of lawyer Jake Brigance in the movie A Time to Kill.





But he became famous mainly thanks to romantic comedies. Viewers remember him from movies like Weddings according to Mary, How to Lose a Boyfriend in 10 Days or You Can't Get Rid of Bejvalek. Currently, the actor accepts rather dramatic and serious roles, such as the character of a man infected with HIV in the film The Last Hope Club or a mysterious detective in the miniseries The Dark Case. He won his first Oscar in 2014 for his role in the film The Last Hope Club.


In his teenage years, this likeable actor went through hell, but according to him, he did not let it affect him in any way. Matthew McConaughey has admitted that he was subjected to abuse and blackmail at a very young age. At the age of fifteen, he lost his temper involuntarily. And at eighteen, he was sexually abused while unconscious by a man who had previously planted drugs on him. Although he had suffered many traumas, he wasn't going to let his memories define the rest of his life.


On The Conversation podcast with host Amanda de Cadenet, he spoke about trauma and some of the lessons his father taught him about consent and physical intimacy.  " My parents taught me respect for women, for relationships, for sexual intimacy, for personal space. And when my father was having a 'guy' talk with me once, he said: 'If you feel that a girl or a woman is hesitating in an intimate moment... Stop.' He literally said, 'You might just think he's hesitating, and once you stop, he might say, 'Oh no, come on.' But don't go on. Wait until next time. "
