Filming Of 'Chicago Fire' In Waukegan To Close Route 137 For 7 Days

 A weeklong closure of the Amstutz Expressway to accommodate the television show starts Thursday, IDOT officials said.





WAUKEGAN, IL — State transportation officials announced a three-mile stretch of Route 137 in Waukegan will be closed for nearly a week due to a scheduled television shoot.From 5 a.m. Thursday until 1 a.m. Oct. 13, weather permitting, the Amstutz Expressway will be closed to through traffic from Genesee Street to Greenwood Avenue, according to an Illinois Department of Transportation spokesperson.


The closure is needed to accommodate the filming of NBC's "Chicago Fire," IDOT representatives said.Local residents and businesses will be permitted to continue using the road, while a detour will direct other motorists to use Belvidere Street and Sheridan Road.According to IDOT, drivers should expect delays, leave extra time for travel through the area and be alert for workers and equipment.
