Captain America Cosplay Gives Steve Rogers His Own Mandalorian Armor

New cosplay from Shawn Richter combines the worlds of Captain America with the Mandalorian, resulting in a genre mash-up for the ages.

Genre mash-ups are always fun, especially when combining two beloved properties like Captain America and The Mandalorian. That’s precisely what cosplayer Shawn Richter has done, giving fans a mash-up costume that will have them exclaiming, “This is the way!”

Created in 1941 by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby, Captain America was an instant success for Marvel, then known as Timely Comics. In the years following World War II, Cap’s popularity waned, until his title was finally canceled in the 1950s. After the launch of the Marvel Age in the 1960s, the character was brought back on the scene in Avengers #4, where Captain America's absence was explained by him literally being put on ice.

Cap has since gone on to become an unshakeable fixture of the Marvel Universe ever since, leading the Avengers and saving the world countless times. In contrast, The Mandalorian was the first live-action serialized television show in the Star Wars universe, making its debut in 2019 on Disney +. Telling the story of an intergalactic bounty hunter covered head-to-toe in Mandalorian armor, the show has two seasons under its belt with a third on the way.

Now, Captain America gets a whole new look courtesy of cosplay artist Shawn Richter. Recently shared via Instagram, Shawn Richter’s Cap places the stars-and-stripes on a suit of Mandalorian armor, in a look that makes the unlikely combo feel inevitable. Richter chooses the first triangular shield as opposed to the better-known round shield that Captain America routinely wields, with his blaster drawn and ready for action.
