BBC Call the Midwife star Jennifer Kirby says she could return to the show

 We could be seeing the beloved character return to our screens. 





The former Call the Midwife actress Jennifer Kirby has revealed that she is open to returning to the popular BBC period drama as she said "never say never." Fans of the show can fondly remember when her caring character, ex-Army nurse Valerie Dyer, was first introduced. Valerie was always keen to lend an sympathetic ear when it came to the problems faced by the deprived community in Poplar.The actress made her Call the Midwife debut in 2017, during the show sixth series. She appeared in the second episode. However, sadly in 2020, Jennifer confirmed that she had would be leaving her role on the much-loved show after four years.


At the time, the 34-year-old actress said: "After four joyful years spent with Call the Midwife I have decided to say goodbye to Nonnatus, Val, and the wonderful cast, crew and production team,"The programme is truly a national treasure, and it will always be a huge honour for me to have been a part of something so wonderful. I can’t wait to keep watching our beloved Nonnatuns from the other side of the screen. Long live Call the Midwife. So long chicks."


In response to the news, the show's executive producer Pippa Harris told RadioTimes, “It has been a delight to work with Jennifer on Call the Midwife and we wish her well as she cycles away from Nonnatus House.After just two years since she left Call the Midwife, Jennifer is now starring in the new series of Vampire Academy, which is set to air on Peacock, but that doesn't mean that the actress has ruled out a possible return to the beloved drama.You never say never,’ she says. ‘But as an actor I’ve always told myself I would challenge myself and push myself.
