As  Law & Order Special Victims Unit enters its 24th season fans can expect some new exciting  and disturbing adventures from Captain Olivia Bensons  Mariska Hargitay team. The latest season will also be introducing a fresh detective. Following in the footsteps of soon to be former  Law & Order SVU star Kelli Giddish who portrays Amanda Rollins the latest addition to the squad also has a background in soaps. Giddish spent several years on  All My Children as Di Henry and she is nہt the only actor who has transitioned from soaps to the crime fighting world of  Law & Order.

Soap stars especially  Days of Our Lives stars migrating to or even guest starring on a  Law & Order series is definitely not uncommon.  Days of Our Lives star Daniel Crosgrove made an appearance on  Law & Order SVU on the Season 18 episode  Motherly Love  while Dr. Kayla Brady Johnson actor Mary Beth Evans made an appearance on the Season 10 premiere as an unethical doctor who prescribes medication too quickly to in order to deal with bothersome patients. Now another  Days of Our Lives actor is getting ready to join the venerable crime procedural in a major role.

Days of Our Lives star Molly Burnett has joined  Law & Order Special Victims Unit as the recurring character Detective Grace Muncy, according to TVLine. Most recognized as Melanie from the aforementioned soap Burnett has also worked on shows like  General Hospital and played Kelly Anne Van Awken on  Queen of the South. Additionally, Burnett has previously guest starred on shows like  FBI Most Wanted CSI Cyber and  Chicago P.D. so she clearly knows her way around the set of a criminal investigation.

Not too much is currently known about Burnett's character. So far, we do know she has an experienced detective with a background in gang activity. Thanks to the information from TVline we also get the sense that Det. Muncy will be sharp  a skilled investigator and not willing to take anyones crap. It sounds like a lot of the traits people love about Olivia Benson are reflected in Muncy. With the diversity of the show and the reputation for well written characters  there should not be any real chance of overlapping too much.
