The blue-eyed romantic interest arrived in Shieldinch as a footie player for Livingston FC with the show's bio pages describing him as ambitious and driven and as the new golden boy of the Scottish Premier League.
It was not long before the heartthrob developed a romantic tryst. When the two married he whisked her away to Monaco to live out her dream of being a WAG to its fullest potential but in true soap opera style it would all come crashing down before long.Before Scots Outlander hero Sam Heughan shot to fame in the fantasy show he started out with a small role in Glasgow based soap River City which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.
Sam best known as lead Jamie Fraser in the hit US drama starred in the BBC Scotland series back in 2005 playing aspiring footballer Andrew Murray over several episodes. Success soon got to his head and Andrew could not stop cheating on Kelly Marie which forced her return to the rainy streets of Shieldinch.
Eventually Andrew gave his wife an ultimatum and she chose to stay in Scotland which bruised his ego. In retaliation he immediately got engaged and then sold his story to the papers .Recalling his days on the soap with celebrates two decades on our screens later this month with great fondness Sam said previously he had a great time playing Andrew which helped give him his break in the business.He said his time on the series was a real learning curve for him as he set his acting ambitions on making the big time.In an interview Sam said River City has its own fan base and I had a great time on it. It was a learning curve for me.
